Band Concert Memorial

I am a member of the Tipp City Community band.  I play flute.   Today we did a memorial concert for a woman who was the founder of the band.  We played pieces such as The Star Spangled Banner, Big Band Showcase, Sinatra songs, Up Up and Away, Downtown, selections from Marry Poppins, selections from the Mamas and the Papas and the Washington Post march, among others.  And during the Washington Post March a lot of the people in the crowd joined hands and "marched" around the room.  It was so neat! I hope  at my funeral or memorial people truly celebrate my life like that!

Campfire

The last couple of years we have been too busy to go camping in our camper.  So last night Olivia and Savannah suggested we have a campfire in the backyard.  So Dad obliged them and built a fire.  We sang songs, Olivia and Savannah roasted hot dogs and we made s'mores.  Savannah ate 4 s'mores! Two were enough for me.  Good times!

Saturday with the Family

Today we went to the Apple Fest at Aullwood Farm.  The weather was beautiful, cool, partly cloudy and a little windy.  Olivia, Savannah and I went on a wagon ride around the pasture.  We shared an apple dumpling, our first.  Pretty tasty!  We saw some farm animals, sheep, horses, donkeys, goats, chickens, turkeys and alpacas.  The girls helped make apple cider by putting apples into a wooden press and turning the crank.  We also shared funnel cakes and kettle corn popcorn. But we weren't brave enough to try the lamb stew.  It was nice to spend time together as a family, well most of our family.  Makenzie's a married woman now living in Arizona and today John IV was at a marching band competition.  One of these days we'll be all together again.
